Frequently Asked Questions
What is MnemoGit?
MnemoGit is an AI-powered learning platform that uses spaced repetition flashcards to help you retain information. You can choose which AI model powers your explanations, create and share decks, and track your progress.
What does 'Bring Your Own Key' (BYOK) mean?
BYOK means you can use your own API keys from providers like Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI, or OpenRouter. When you use your own keys, you pay the AI provider directly at their rates with zero markup from us. Your keys are encrypted with AES-256-GCM and stored securely.
What's the difference between the two plans?
Both plans include all features. The Platform AI plan ($8/mo) uses our AI keys — you pay a 3x transparent markup on token usage. The BYOK plan ($12/mo) lets you use your own API keys with zero markup. The Platform plan costs less per month because we earn from token usage.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — 7 days free, no credit card required. You get full access to all features during the trial.
What AI models can I use?
Claude (Haiku, Sonnet, Opus), GPT-4o, GPT-4o-mini, open-source models via OpenRouter (Llama, Mistral, Gemma, DeepSeek, and more), Google AI (Gemini), and self-hosted models via Ollama.
How does the credit system work?
Platform AI users purchase credits in dollar amounts ($5 minimum). When you use AI features, tokens are billed at 3x the provider's cost and deducted from your balance. Bulk purchases offer discounts: 5% on $20, 10% on $50, 15% on $100. Credits expire after 12 months.
Can I switch between BYOK and Platform AI?
Yes. When you enable BYOK, you switch to the $12/mo rate with a minimum 1-month commitment. When you disable BYOK, the subsidized $8/mo rate returns after that month, and platform AI passthrough resumes.
Is there a mobile app?
Yes — MnemoGit is available on Android via the Google Play Store. Your progress syncs between web and mobile.
Can I create my own flashcard decks?
Absolutely. Create decks manually or let AI generate them from any topic. You can also browse and fork community-shared decks from our library.
How does spaced repetition work?
We use the SM-2 algorithm. After reviewing a card, you rate it Easy, Medium, or Hard. The algorithm schedules the next review at an optimal interval — easy cards appear less frequently, hard cards more often. This maximizes retention with minimal study time.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Your data is retained for 30 days after cancellation. You can export all your data (decks, cards, progress) in JSON format at any time from Settings > Data. After 30 days, data is permanently deleted per our privacy policy.
Is my data private?
Yes. Flashcard content is sent to third-party AI providers only when you request AI explanations. We comply with GDPR, CCPA, and VCDPA. You can request data export or deletion at any time. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
